DAY-2 GOA

Post breakfast, you will start your trip of the old and new capital of GOA. You will start your tour with a drive to Dona Paula, an idyllic spot which overlooks Goa’s magnificent harbour of Mormugão. After that you will proceed to Panjim via Miramar Beach. The Portuguese Court in Lisbon in 1843 issued a Royal Decree stating that Panjim will be the new capital of GOA. The Panjim of today still exudes that old charm, with typical Portuguese architecture mirrored in the houses and villas spread along the River Mandovi. Some of the famous monuments include the Panjim Church, Palácio Idalcão (the present Secretariat) which was built by Adil Shah in 1492  and the Palácio Patriarcal (Bishop's Palace). You will then proceed to Old Goa, which was the old capital of Goa. Visit the Basílica of Bom Jesus which contains the relics of  St. Francis Xavier, kept in a silver casket entombed in a Florentine style marble mausoleum and Se Cathedral (the seat of the Archbishop of Goa). Enjoy the nightlife of Goa and walk by the beach under the moonlit sky.

The market is normally busy on all days, but Fridays are when they are the most buzzing.  Another attraction that will amaze you is Fort Aguada, a well-preserved 17th century Portuguese fort, which is popular to visit during the sunset.  For dinner, enjoy the Goan delicacies, in one of the restaurants of the famous Portuguese quarter.
