Coonoor is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu, known for its production of Nilgiri tea. It is very famous for its trekking expeditions in the Nilgiris.
Tea is the main source of Coonoor’s economy, apart from income generated through tourism, with tourists who flock the tea estates during summers. While in Coonoor do not miss out a ride on the Heritage train that passes through some breathtaking curves, tunnels and atop hills providing you mesmerizing views. The other places of interest include the Highfield tea factory that houses different varieties of tea, trekking upto the Tiger Hill Cemetary can be a very pleasant experience, dolphin’s nose that gives you an awesome view of the Nilgiri hills, Lamb’s rock, Wellington Gymkhana Club Golf course, Sim’s park and a lot of other sites to visit. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is one of the oldest mountain railways in India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
October till March is the best time to visit this beautiful hill station, with lush green tea plantations and clear skies all the way.
